Thanksgiving is a fine American custom, a time when friends and family get together to celebrate. Corinthia Hotel Budapest is laying on a magnificent spread complete with all the trimmings: turkey soup, roast turkey and goose with stuffing, leg of lamb, creative punch (ladled from a huge pumpkin), mulled wine and tea. The dramatic decoration is a sight in itself: the centrepiece is a 1-m-high angel carved from a block of ice, surrounded by candles, pine cones and evergreens. And to top it all off as a memorable Thanksgiving, we are serving freshly roasted chestnuts.

Welcome, dear guests and readers. At the moment we are enjoying an autumn really packed with events. The series ‘Acting in Gastronomy’ has started and is proving hugely popular. At the end of last month we staged an event (in the Ballroom) marking the 10th anniversary of the reopening of the hotel: the programme was combined with a presentation of the new hotel uniforms decorated with Kalocsa motifs by fashion designer Tünde Hrivnák, and it proved an excellent example of how it is possible to pass on our traditions through the creation of modern innovation structured on customs. The Sunday Brunches continue as ever; in the course of the coming month we intend to give particular emphasis to themes and entertainment. To commemorate St. Martin’s Day, goose is being served up in every possible form. In the middle of the month connoisseurs of Indonesian cuisine can indulge themselves. We are making absolutely sure that this is not only a meal but an all-family affair so we considered every age group when putting together the programme. Naturally, we have not forgotten the end-of-month Thanksgiving, either, and by the time the next edition is published Advent will be with us.
However, there is more to the month than this: we hold our first interactive literary evening – ‘The Story Behind’ – in Le Bar, when guests will have the opportunity of meeting famous writers in person.
This November the Les Clefs d’Or Hungary Association celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation. The Gala Banquet on 9 November in the Ballroom is an important event for our hotel, during which representatives of the profession and the international leadership will attend.
Furthermore, this month’s edition features an interview with Orsolya, Reservations Manager, and there are beauty and health tips from the Royal Spa on how to keep in great shape.

Fall is the season of hunting and wine. During those chilly nights it is a pleasure to eat a substantial and savoury course accompanied by spicy white wine and palinka. In the course of these dinners in candlelight diverting stories and anecdotes will reminisce the world of nature and sceneries far-far away.
Gyula Bodrogi is not only an excellent storyteller and hunter but a fantastic cook too. You can be assured that the exciting stories told by him during the dinner will nicely fit with the serving.
