2013_12_your_corinthia_535x495bWe are approaching one of the nicest parts of the year. In our hotel, too, Advent preparations and gearing up for Christmas take centre stage.

We open the festive season with the Christmas Tree Lighting Sunday Brunch on the first Sunday in Advent. This is the moment the building is decked out in its seasonal costume; together with the switching on of the Christmas tree lights we decorate the entire hotel and ready ourselves for the coming celebrations. The Gingerbread House in the Lobby has a huge range of festive delicacies; come and savour traditional delights, seasonal cookies and exquisite beverages while listening to melodies played by a harpist from 3-5 pm daily. Celebrate with us by treating yourself to ‘Royal delicacies’ specially prepared to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Corinthia Hotel Budapest. Furthermore, on every Wednesday and Saturday throughout Advent we will be running our Home Cooking programme providing a glimpse into how to prepare the hotel’s own seasonal specialities.

Naturally, our themed brunches also mirror the approach to Christmas, thus we have a Santa Claus Brunch, Advent Brunch and Christmas Day Brunch as well. Of course, you will find our magazine gives full details of all the main events at Christmas as well as New Year’s Eve, which we would like to use to close in appropriate fashion this very special celebratory year when we commemorated the 10th anniversary of the reopening of Corinthia Hotel Budapest.

There is also a report on a really special event when, in connection with the abovementioned anniversary, we recently unveiled the hotel’s latest uniform collection at a stylish fashion show.

Besides all this we feature our usual columns as well. In its special offer this month the Royal Spa reveals how to rejuvenate body and soul in the festive season. We are introduced to Zsuzsa from the Concierge department, we can pick up the very latest recipe from Joel and read a new chapter in the history of the hotel.

Les Clefs d’Or Hungary celebrates the 30th anniversary of its foundation this year.

Szabó Szabolcs köszönti a vendégeketThe association (founded: 1983) strives to promote outstanding professional activities on the part of its members, facilitate professional relations between members and the flow of professional information nurturing friendships that go beyond the professional field, and establish a broad range of contacts with Clefs d’Or associations abroad as well as other professional organizations. The full board of the Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hôtels (UICH) ‘Les Clefs d’Or’ headed by Emmanuel  Vrettos, International President of the association, visited Hungary on the occasion of the anniversary.

During the 4-day event visitors took part in professional forums and meetings but we also had an opportunity to present the sights of Budapest, spicing the programme with cultural events.

The highpoint of their stay was on Saturday 9 November and the banquet arranged in the Corinthia Ballroom. The gala dinner was also attended by Viktória Horváth, Deputy State Secretary for Tourism at the Ministry for National Economy, and Ákos Niklai, Vice-president of the Hungarian Association of Hotels and Restaurants, and patron for the evening. Our hotel was represented by Szabolcs Szabó.

Participants included foreign Clefs d’Or colleagues arriving from more than 20 countries, representatives of the tourism profession, hotel general managers and the Hungarian membership.

Guests were totally enchanted by the varied musical programmes, the superb cuisine and, naturally, the charming atmosphere of the Ballroom.

A quality publication sponsored by Funzine magazine was put together to mark the 30th anniversary and a 2008 Royal Cuvée wine was specially labelled for the occasion by Bock Winery.

One of the outstanding events of the evening was a birthday cake specially made for the jubilee. It was a compilation of all the previous and current ‘national cakes of Hungary’.
