Crocodile à la carte
Gastro Boulevard Budapest debuts at the Gourmet Festival with a snappy crocodile dish for real gastro adventurers.
Corinthia Hotel Budapest is proud to present Gastro Boulevard Budapest, encompassing its 6-in-1 set of top class outlets. With the introduction of the Michelin-recommended Far Eastern Rickshaw last year, this is the second time the hotel presents its cuisine at the Gourmet Festival.
Our impressive booth allows visitors to sample the signature dish of this year’s festival, famed Hungarian paprikás csirke (chicken paprika) as well as an exciting hot-and-cold dessert with a blend of lively textures and flavours. But unquestionably, the biggest hit of Gastro Boulevard Budapest is going to be the crocoroll.
Peter Bolyki, Executive Chef of Corinthia Hotel Budapest, was somewhat mysterious but also very enthusiastic about this exceptional and special meal: “Luxury dining is not only about combining the most modern technologies with the finest quality ingredients. People, tastes and demands change. It is essential to come up with something surprising, interesting and unique, to be innovative, experimental, daring, but in a free and easy way. Tasting crocodile is a truly matchless experience. The mellow texture complements the sassy and exciting flavour of the meat with the right amount and selection of spices. We serve this meal as a real summer delicacy since it represents everything that this season is admired for: the heat, the temper and exotic adventures. I believe crocodile is going to be a popular and much loved meal, since it is pure, tender and served in a sophisticated yet exciting way.”
It is certainly worth visiting Gastro Boulevard Budapest at the Gourmet Festival and not only for the crocodile. The luckiest guests will also have the opportunity to win an amazing Sunday Brunch in the fabulous Corinthia Hotel Budapest.
Corinthia on the court
It is our labour of love to make a stand for noble causes and to feel the importance and joy of volunteering. But besides corporate social responsibility, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest team also supports initiatives and events that are based on creating value and forming communities. The Manager Open is one such example.
Business people from all sectors and fields competing in a healthy and fun way: this tournament is a perfect opportunity for managers to forget about charts, data, deals, strategies and deadlines. Tamás Hámori, organizer of the Manager Open, is enthusiastic about the upcoming games: “It is amazing to look back to the time when everything started. Eleven years ago there were only a couple managers for whom tennis meant more than just a hobby, but they were excellent businessmen at the same time. I wanted to involve more players and over the years it turned out that this tournament developed faster than I ever dreamed possible. It is gratifying to see colleagues, friends, players who were there at the first match still competing with undiminished energy and passion. This year, managers will have the chance to compete in nine cities around Hungary with the final being organized in Budapest.”
The tournament is open to anyone from any company, city or country. The only condition is to have a partner, since this competition is not about playing solo. The aim of the contest is also to strengthen business – and personal – partnerships in a free-and-easy way. And it really is worth applying: there are fantastic prizes and, of course, the champion’s cup and gold medal go to the winner. There are several categories, so increasing the chances to succeed in the Manager Open.
We at Corinthia Hotel Budapest are extremely proud to enter the tournament: General Manager Mr. Thomas M. Fischer’s passion and talent for tennis is undeniable, therefore we are very much looking forward to this year’s Manager Open. It will be our big chance to show once again that our service is among the best in the country, in the context of tennis as well.

Golden Globe Awards: ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ wins Best Picture, Comedy or Musical.
Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel took home the Golden Globe for Best Picture, Comedy or Musical prize, winning in an upset.
Anderson gave a predictably Andersonian speech. He listed names of those involved in the film, but said he really wanted to focus on Hollywood Foreign Press Association. He then proceeded to list names of members of the HFPA, appearing to take great joy in their eccentricity. “These are the people I want to thank tonight and many others with names nothing like theirs, but equally captivating,” he said.

Announces an Exclusive
“Behind the Scenes Grand Budapest Hotel”
Three -Night Luxury Experience
The GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, Wes Anderson’s latest all-star film, recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars. Corinthia Hotel Budapest, which originally opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal, shares several similarities with the movie’s fictional Grand Budapest Hotel, including a remarkably similar facade.
The Grand Hotel Royal was Europe’s first grand hotel and royal spa. The earliest filmmakers, the Lumière brothers, held their first cinematographic screening in Europe outside of Paris, at the hotel. In 1915, the Hotel’s Royal Ballroom was transformed into the Royal Apollo Cinema seating over 1,000 viewers. In 2002, the luxury Corinthia Hotel Group, painstakingly and elegantly, restored the original Grand Hotel Royal to its former glory.
Corinthia Hotel Budapest’s exclusive three-night “Behind the Scenes” stay offers movie buffs the opportunity to experience the special ambiance of an historic “Grand Hotel,” along with the best of 21st century luxury. Start the story with a ‘Behind the Scenes” tour at the Hotel, learning about the history of the Hungarian film industry which has its roots in the Corinthia Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. Guests will also be able to enjoy the Executive Club facilities and pamper themselves in the beautifully restored Royal Spa, ten years older than even the original hotel.
The “Behind the Scenes” package provides guests with the unique opportunity to attend a VIP Grand Budapest Hotel movie screening at the Arena Plaza cinema and a walking tour of the Hungarian capital’s most famous movie set locations. Topping off this “Behind the Scenes” experience, guests will enjoy a special view of Budapest from a cruise on the Danube.
The three-night “Behind the Scenes” experience starts at EUR 842 (approximately $1,150) for two, including buffet breakfast, valid from April 4 to December 25, 2014.
