Interview with Zoltán Tóth, Banquet Chef
Which area do you work in?
I have worked with the kitchen staff since 2006, first as Banquet Sous Chef and then from 2010 as Senior Banquet Chef.
What are your duties?
My duties include the preparation and cooking of meals for groups and events of more than 25 people, to the high standards expected of a 5-star hotel. I have to watch everything from the ordering of ingredients right through to the point where the meal is served to the guest, whether this is buffet style or plated. In the course of my work I have to satisfy very many different types of guest, from ministers and top international singers to a guest here in the hotel wishing to relax in pleasant surroundings.
What was your happiest experience in relation to the hotel?
About 3 years ago we did an event at Hungaroring, where we promoted our wonderful Royal Spa among Hungarian owners of Ferraris. Now, that really was something; wherever I looked there were Ferraris, and their glorious sound really got my heart beating! To my great luck I was taken around the track in the car of my dreams, a real Ferrari Enzo.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have recently discovered a new hobby, photography, and I practice and study this when I have time. Besides this I really enjoy watching good films. Mainly when I fall asleep after the first 10 minutes!
