Meet the staff

Interview with Nikoletta Kuzma, Event Assistant

1. How long have you worked at the hotel?

Nikoletta_KuzmaTo be precise, I first stepped over the threshold of the hotel’s staff entrance in September 2009, and I have been a member of the Corinthia team since 1 November 2011.

2. Which areas have you worked in, and where are you now?
Before November 2011 I worked in all areas of F&B. Like almost everybody else I started in the Brasserie, where I was a breakfast waitress, then hostess. After this I moved to Le Bar, and parallel with this I worked in the Executive Club, then I was a permanent contracted waitress in the Rickshaw Restaurant. I also worked for a few days in Room Service. From here my career path led to banqueting, where I started as a waitress and then later I became what I am today, event assistant, two and a half years ago. During this time I also had a short spell as F&B Coordinator.

3. What are your duties?
I take part in the trouble-free arrangement of conferences, weddings, concerts and any other events that are staged in our hotel. By this I mean that I am always available, and I will help in anything that guests or organizers may require. This might be a simple photocopy, print out, collection or despatch of a delivery. Among my duties is the preparation of signboards for events, and making sure they are displayed at the right time and collected afterwards. I also make the menus, buffets cards, seating cards and seating plans for lunches and dinners. I assist the head waiters, and of course other sections as well, with up-to-date information.

4. What was your happiest experience in relation to the hotel?
The truth is that in my time here I have had very many pleasant experiences, and it is always the latest that is my favourite. I have been able to meet very many celebrities. But perhaps there are two things that particularly stick in the memory. Two years ago there was an event here, and I got on so well with the main organizer of the group that to this day we keep in contact and have become friends.
The other is on our wedding day, when wedding photos could also be taken in the hotel, so that in my old age I will not only be able to remember what a lovely place it was that I worked in but I will be able to see snaps from one of the most beautiful days in my life.

5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I try to fill every single moment of my free time usefully. It is very important that there is a balance between my family, my friends and my individual pursuits. Unfortunately, this cannot always be so in busier times when we have masses of work. I try to exercise and do yoga 4-5 times a week. Sport plays a large part in ensuring that my day-to-day life is in balance. Both my husband and I love nature, so we spend a lot of time on excursions. It is only natural that I should keep in touch with my friends so I also try to spend time with them, when we will go to a café, chat and socialize, and sometimes there is even time for a party. I like cooking, crocheting, learning and trying new things, reading, mainly when I am sun-bathing, so I can hardly wait for the warm weather when I can combine the two.
