Similarly to last year’s successful Open Day, Corinthia Hotel Budapest will this year once again welcome visitors interested in the hotel. On this occasion, Sunday 25 May 2014, visitors can glimpse behind the scenes of Corinthia Hotel Budapest, in relation to one of the year’s biggest cinema hits, the star-studded film Grand Budapest Hotel.
Corinthia Hotel Budapest has always played a significant role in the entertainment industry because at the time it opened it hosted the Lumiére brothers who presented their groundbreaking motion pictures, the first such screening in Hungary. Last century the hotel Ballroom functioned first as the Royal Apollo, then the Vörös Csillag (Red Star) cinema, and even today there are strong ties between the film industry and the hotel. Corinthia Hotel Budapest has welcomed celebrities such as Catherine Deneuve, Donald Sutherland, Franco Nero, Ridley Scott, Jean Reno and Gerard Depardieu.
To mark the launch of the film Corinthia Hotel Budapest arranged several film-related activities during the year, amongst them a special tour with the aim of showing how a 5-star luxury hotel operated at the time the film is set in, how it functions today, and the similarities between the two.
On the Open Day members of staff of Corinthia Hotel Budapest will hold guided tours revealing the rich history of the hotel in our exhibition located next to the entrance, it will be the chance to glimpse into the finest suite, find out exactly what treatments are available in the fantastic Royal Spa VIP room, get a sense of turn-of-the-century grandeur in the magnificent Ballroom, and experience the culinary delights in our restaurant.
